Welcome to 2025! What have you lost?

 Welcome to 2025!

We survived New Year's Eve. At least, I did. I was up watching tv to see the new year arrive. I watched a local television channel so I could see the new year come to Las Vegas. Was it fun? Not really. It was just news casters at casinos going on and on about how fabulous everything was on the Las Vegas Strip. It looked crowded and noisy to me. A lot of stupid people getting drunk who will be found all over hotels passed out in hallways later on. They don't show that part on television. 

Anyway, what does the new year mean to me? I spent a bit of time thinking about a few things that we lost. Computer things, really. For 2025 I found something I wanted. I would like a brand new Apple Mac mini with the M4 CPU chip! Those look so neat! I won't be getting one because I don't need it, and there would really be nothing to do with it the the Mac I'm typing this on can't do. I can't just toss out this iMac because it's old! The M4 chip has a lot of power! I don't need all that power. I just couldn't justify buying a new Mac computer when the current things I have still work well.

That's one of the things about Apple products, they all work and work well! They don't wear out easily. Maybe that's why they're always so expensive? 

So, moving on, what did we lose? How about disk drives? They just disappeared! No more floppy disks, no more 3.5 disks, no more disks period! No one uses disks anymore. We now save things on an SSD drive with no moving parts. How the hell does that even work? I have no idea, but it's seems to work well. Video games are going to be the next thing we lose. Not games themselves, but games you can hold. Video game consoles are coming out with no CD drives. Everything is going to be online soon. Movies will are already going the streaming route, too. I have a lot of digital movies on a couple SSD drives. What happens if I lose the SSD drives they are on? No more movies. Maybe I can find them somewhere to steam? I'm much happier having my movies on DVDs that I can hold! 

What does any of this stuff have to do with the new year? I don't know, I'm just rambling on. I don't know what to expect for 2025. Eggs are hard to find right now because of Avian Flu. A few birds got sick, so everyone killed all their chickens. Some may have not been sick, but no one cares. Just get rid of the chickens! What came first, killing chickens, or making eggs to expensive to buy? Maybe we could develop a vaccine for the birds? NO,  no medication for animals! That makes too much sense! We're not doing that! 

I need fuel in my car, but most places are closed today because it's a holiday. Hooray. Let's all celebrate by closing everything. What a pain in the behind! I guess I'll get fuel another day. Luckily, I think I can make it to work another day or so with the fuel I have right now...maybe.

Maybe this year will be more writing for me. I slacked off in 2024. Here I am writing my first blog of the year and am hoping to write 51 more blogs. If I can do one a week, I can keep a nice record of what I was thinking thought out 2025. They might be thoughts I don't want to think back about, but still, it'll be a record of the year as long as I don't die. Hopefully, I can stay alive. That's MY New Year's resolution for 2025, to stay alive! Hopefully I'll be able to manage that.
